The asisi Panometer Wittenberg offers cyclists on the Elbe Cycle Route a unique opportunity to travel back in time to the year 1517. The monumental 360° panorama by artist Yadegar Asisi brings the era of the Reformation to life on a surface of around 1,100 square meters. From a 15-meter-high observation platform, visitors can look out over the town of Luther at the time he posted his theses, discovering in incredible detail the bustling streets, historical figures like Martin Luther and Lucas Cranach, and the architecture of the Renaissance. An integrated day-and-night light cycle and an atmospheric soundscape allow visitors to fully immerse themselves in history.
For cyclists, the Panometer is an ideal stop, located only about 200 meters from the Elbe Cycle Route in the eastern part of the city. The large-scale presentation makes it possible to grasp the historical significance of Wittenberg in a compact and fascinating way before visiting the original sites in the old town. Since the visit takes place inside a climate-controlled circular building, it also offers a welcome, weather-independent break from the saddle. Lockers are available in the entrance area to safely store bicycle helmets and day luggage, and the observation platform is easily accessible via an elevator. The Panometer is open daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and serves as an impressive visual addition to an active tour through this UNESCO World Heritage site.
