The Bastei is one of the most famous attractions in Saxon Switzerland. The breathtaking views over the Elbe Valley, the mountains of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and neighbouring landscapes make it one of the most popular excursion destinations in the region. There are several viewpoints, including the Ferdinand's View. These are signposted on site. The Basteiaussicht is a great alternative for guests with disabilities.
The barrier-free platform is located above the Bastei Bridge and offers a great view of the Elbe Valley and the table mountains such as Königstein Fortress.
Our tip: Cyclists can use the cycle car park in the spa town of Rathen and store their bikes and luggage safely there. Then nothing stands in the way of a hike up to the famous Bastei. Take the yaw rope ferry across, hike up the steps to the bastion and down again via the "Schwedenlöcher". All in all, you should plan a comfortable three hours for this. There are also various bus routes that run uphill from Pirna, Stadt Wehlen and Bad Schandau in the Elbe valley.
The Bastei is accessible at all times. Admission is free.
