Signposting of  the Elbe Cycle route/national cycle route Nr.2 starts/finishes at the cable car station to Žalý in Vrchlabí. Due to high elevation (altogether almost 900m) we recommend to travel light (without luggage) from Vrchlabí or Špindlerův Mlýn to the Elbe source. Between Vrchlabí and Špindlerův Mlýn there is a frequented road II/295 without designated cycle lane but in the main season (June-September) there is a cycle bus connection  between the two places (green Line Nr.3).

To go by bicycle from Vrchlabí (477m) you can climb first a steep hill to Křížovky (722 m) and continue cycling to ski resort Benecko where you will join the Giant mountains route K13 and continue to crossroad Rovinka (851 m) and Třídomí. If you are still full of energy you can continue your ride on K13 route via Horní Mísečky and to the Elbe source. You can also ride from Třídomí on K11 cycle route to Špindlerův Mlýn to the cable car station Medvědín. In the main saison you can also use the cable car to Žalý (1.019 m, transport of bicycles allowed, during weekends, July - August daily, and then use K10 cycle route to Benecko and from here along the above described route to the Elbe source.

You can cycle back to Vrchlabí downhill along K13 cycle route via Horní Mísečky to Benecko and further on via Křížovky to Vrchlabí.

If you want to reach the Elbe source from Špindlerův Mlýn you will most likely go to the cable car station to Medvědín (1.235 m n. m., transport of bicycles allowed, daily July - October). From Medvědín you cycle to K13A cycle route and then go uphill on Masaryk road and along the K13 cycle route on to Labská bouda. Back to Špindlerův Mlýn you can use the cable car from Medvědín or cycle downhill on K12 cycle route from Horní Mísečky to Špindlerův Mlýn.

You have to walk the last about 1km from Labská bouda to the Elbe source (1.386 m).
