Albertinum Dresden: Art from Romanticism to the Present

The Albertinum, which houses the Galerie Neue Meister and the Sculpture Collection, is one of Dresden's most significant museums. Since 2010, the gallery has offered fascinating insights into art from Romanticism to the present day across more than 5,650 square meters. The collection includes masterpieces of Impressionism, Expressionism, and New Objectivity. It enjoys an outstanding international reputation, particularly for works by German Romanticists like Caspar David Friedrich and contemporary artists such as Gerhard Richter. Significant sculptures, for instance by August Rodin, are also on display.

The museum sees itself as an open space for a modern understanding of art, including sound installations, video art, and performances. A special highlight is the Open Atelier, which invites people of all ages on the third Sunday of every month to create their own landscape paintings on canvas under the guidance of the art education team.
